Just four more days of work before my one-week-holiday starts. I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to that! I'll be staying at home doing nothing (or some holiday-ish things like sleeping in and lazing around on the sofa, reading thrillers or watching dvds). I'm so glad I don't have to travel (have been on the road so many times this past year) or socialise!!! YAY for a lazy week off!!!

That desktop meme that's been going around...

1. Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper at their LJ.
2. Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper!
3. Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on!

Isn't it beautiful?? )

Btw, is it 4 Non Blondes - "What's Up?" revival week or something? I've seen it on mtv/viva / heard it on the radio a gazillion times recently... Odd.

It would just make so much sense, if this guy

(Rudolf Nureyev)

were played by this guy

(Cillian Murphy)

in a yet to be made biopic!!!

More evidence...: )

I'm so in love with that idea... *hearts*

You know what?

I'm going to say it.

I really, really, REALLY don't like seeing Pictures of Orli wearing a ring that isn't The One Ring.

I said it.

I just read that Umberto Eco has a new book coming out in October - and it's a historical crime story!!! It's called "The Cemetery of Prague".

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about that book!

I love, love, love, worship, adore Umberto Eco beyond belief - both his scientific and his literary works, and I think he's the coolest guy.

I wish they'd award him the Nobel Prize already...

*hearts the Professor from Bologna*

Comment and say "I wanna play" and I'll give you ten actors and ten actresses. Then post in your livejournal with your favorite films of theirs

The lovely [livejournal.com profile] tillie1202 gave me the following:

1. Dustin Hoffman: I'm torn between "All the President's Men" and "Wag the Dog"... Well, since "All The Presindent's Men" has been a fav movie of mine ever since my being 13 years old, I vote for that one.
2. Tim Robbins: Arlington Road
3. Kevin Costner: Thirteen Days
4. Mark Wahlberg: I think the only movie with him in it that I've seen is "The Happening", so I guess I have to go for that one.
5. Hugh Jackman: Probably "The Prestige", though I do like "Kate & Leopold" a hell of a lot, too...
6. Robert Redford: Whoa, difficult! He's one of my most favourite actors of all time... Since I already mentioned "All the President's Men" above, I have to admit that I'm torn between "Out of Africa", "Sneakers" and "Spy Game" here. But I'd root for "Spy Game" if I had to make a choice. It's one of the best films I've ever seen. Honestly.
7. Matt Damon: I'm not such a huge Matt Damon fan, I think he still loos like a 12 year old. I really liked "Good Will Hunting", though.
8. Jude Law: "The Holiday"
9. Kevin Spacey: "The Usual Suspects"
10. Robert DeNiro: That's a tough one, as well. I think he gave his very, very best performance (if not one of *the* best performances ever captured on film) in "Raging Bull". And though I really dig all of his performances (I think there's none among them that I don't consider pure genius - I love "Hide & Seek" as well as "Casino", "Meet the Parents", "Heat" and "Analyse This" equally as much and all the rest as well), I think I'd pick "Raging Bull". Never seen a performance that deserved an Oscar more than his did in this movie.

1. Susan Sarandon: "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
2. Judi Dench: "Notes on a Scandal"
3. Keira Knightley: "Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl" (Sorry, Mr McEwan and Dave Beckham...)
4. Jennifer Aniston: I don't like her all that much, but I'd go for "Love Happens" (Yes, I know everyone else hates this... *hides*)
5. Penelope Cruz: "Vicky Cristina Barcelona"
6. Liv Tyler: "LotR" and "Armageddon"
7. Cameron Diaz: Oh, I like her a lot!! I think I'd pick "Being John Malkovich" and "The Holiday".
8 Joan Cusack: "Working Girl". I shall love that movie till my dying day.
9. Marisa Tomei: "Four Rooms"
10. Catherine Keener: "Friends With Money"

'Nuff said.

Oh, and of course, that:

It's still grey and cold and rainy (they promised us better weather for the weekend, though. They'd better be right *glares*).

And I seem to have caught a cold.

Later, folks. Off to work now.

TGIF, folks, TGIF!!!!

I'm so looking forward to the weekend - and if everything works out, I might get to leave work at around 5 to 6pm today and get a real weekend with Sunday and Saturday off!! Wouldn't that be fab???

And - and I dare not really say this in case I jinx it - things are looking up on a little mini-holiday thing next week! (Originally, I had planned to take the whole week off, but that didn't work out) There's a public holiday on Thursday next week and I'm planning on taking Friday and Wednesday of as well. *crosses fingers*

Will cook asparagus and lamb chops durig the weekend (not on the same day, of course *g* Asparagus on Saturday and lamb chops on Sunday - or the other way round, we'll see.

And I'm going to clean my flat (not real spring cleaning, that would come during the mini vacation next week, windows and all) - I've been rather sloppy with it since I was out and about (business mostly) during the last two weekends.

Ah, bliss!!!

Just FYI

I haven' dropped off the face of the planet. It's just that RL/work is insanely busy at the moment, and I spend tons of time on business trips / seminars / workshops et al.

It's grey and rainy outside and I'd rather stay in. I'm already dressed, though, and ready - so I guess I might as well go to work.

Maybe (maybe!) I get to take next week off work. I don't know yet, but it might work out. We'll see, shall we?

Have a good Tuesday, everyone!

Since I didn't get to post yesterday, two songs today:

Day 03 - A song that makes you happy

Sting - Love is the Seventh Wave

Day 04 - A song that makes you sad

Leonard Cohen - Alexandra Leaving

(Don't watch the video to this song, it's - as far as I've watched it - just the text appearing on the screen. But all other "vids" that have been made for this song suck so much!!! Honestly, how sappy / pseudo-deep can you get??? *pukes*)

No lyrics today because I'm lazy...

Days 5 to 30 )

´╗┐Day 02 - Your least favorite song

I don't really have a "least favourite song"... I'm not such a big fan of Queen and I don't like too much electric guitar (as in Santana's 'Samba Pa Ti') all that much, but I don't think I have a least favourite song...

And for the next 28 days... )
take_this_waltz: (Default)
I snagged this from [livejournal.com profile] bijouatweb:

Day 1 - Your favourite song:

I think that would be R.E.M.: Find the River.

Yeah, I know Michael Stipe can be a pretentious, precocious git - and he does look like a corpse occasionally, poor sweetie, but I still love him to pieces.

Hence, The Lyrics to 'Find the River' by R.E.M. )

Days 2 to 30 (what's to come) )
