Hello, everyone... *waves* (I know some of you are still here, so... :D )

I haven't posted in AGES (again, sorry) but I'm reading my flist every day - so I am keeping up with you guys... *g*

In case you were wondering what I've been up to recently, have a look at my brand new (okay, semi-new) AO3 profile:

sal-si-puedes

I've been writing FIC!! Suits slash, to be precise. Marvey slash to be even more precise.

Matter Over Mind is a series of five Marvey fics set in an omegaverse scenario:

- Part 1: Matter Over Mind (NC-17, 11.735 words)
- Part 2: Secrets And Lies (NC-17, 6.524 words)
- Part 3: What It Is (NC-17, 17.415 words)
- Part 4: A Million Little Pieces (NC-17, 10.516 words)
- Part 5: How To Dress Like Harvey Specter (R, 5.226 words)

They are all Alhpa!Harvey and Omega!Mike. And because of the whole omega!verse thing they all come with heat sex/mating cycles, knotting, slight dub-con (because of the heat thing) and marking/bonding.

No Needles is a new series I just started. It's a Marvey D/s story with BDSM elements, and the first part is nearly finished (3 of 4 chapters have been posted, the last one will be posted tomorrow or the day after.)

- Part 1: No Needles (NC-17, 7.487 words so far, will be appr. 13k when finished)

And then there is a small series of so far four tumblr comment fics. All short, all but one fluffy. :-)

I think that's all the news that fit to print regarding the state of me... How are you guys doing??

I'm interviewing with a guy tomorrow, who - from all I've seen so far - strangely reminds me of Stanley Tucci as Nigel in "The Devil Wears Prada". Am wondering what to wear.

Please send advice.

Dear flist,

I know I've been rather silent during the last couple of months/years...

But *gasps* there have been some fanish goings on in my life recently. I dabbled in the Sherlock fandom a bit, still love it dearly, but never really got to write anything... Had a couple of ideas, started a fic or two, but never really got into it.

Well, then (a couple of months ago) came Suits. AND I'M ADDICTED!!! I've written (and posted) two Harvey/Mike fics so far - and they're omegaverse fics at that! O_O

I, for the life of me, still can't fathom what attracts intelligent and independent women (of a certain age) to write (fan)fic set in a universe so predominently structured by gender stereotypes. (And if I was still at uni (doing my literature studies thing) I'd have a field day with deconstructing all that, organising lectures and conferences around it, but those days have passed, and that is that.)

I've been sucked into it body and, yes, maybe even soul - and here I am, writing fanfic under that premisses. I think I've even found a beta, having been to shy and to self-conscious to ask any of you guys to beta-read that stuff for me (though I did think of asking you, [livejournal.com profile] salixbabylon, thinking that we might engage in some interesting meta discussions about the whole omegaverse set up - but in the end I was to chicken to do so...). Well, anyways. That's what I've been doing.

Oh, and something extremely weird happened (at least to my perception). While browsing the omegaverse tags on AO3, I got sucked into the 1D fandom as well. I'd never even heard a song by 1D when I started reading around in that fandom, but I've been pretty much watching Larry Stylinson stuff on youtobe and reading Larry fanfic non stop for the last couple of days.

I don't even know if any of you guys are into that fandom or if I really want to spend more than a brief stint there, but...

It has been eating my life for the last couple of days, if I'm perfectly honest. (And I can't help but notice that Larry Stylinson is the Viggorli of today. The shippers are at least equally as crazy and tinhatted as we were back in the days... It's INSANE!!!!)

SEND HELP?!?!?!

A song you like with a number in the title: 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon

(I only chose songs I like and actually own on CD, vinyl or iTunes. Except for Blurred Lines. Don't like the song, don't like the singer, don't like the person that song reminds me of.)

Hey flisties, I was hoping you guys could help me out. I'd love to create an AO3 account and I need an invite.

Does anyone of you have an account and can invite me to AO3???

That would be fantastic!! :D
take_this_waltz: (Curtain)
Hell, I haven't posted here in ages... And I'd like to do a meme, even if it's boring. So here you go - my 2013 resume...

1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before? Told the people who paid me (job-wise) that I thought what they did/thought of doing was complete and utter bullshit (according to my professional opinion and responsibilities) and thus lost my job.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? No, and no.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes, two very good friends of mine did. S. and K.

4. Did anyone close to you die? No.

5. What countries did you visit? Just the Netherlands, like every year. But I loved, loved, loved it!!

6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
Apart from a job by the end of the year - nothing. I'm good.

7. What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The day I told those fuckwits at my former job that they can suck my dick (pardon the expression). Because I really stuck up for what I know to be right and true - with a shitty consequence for myself but I still firmly believe I did the right thing.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not giving in to convenience.

9. What was your biggest failure? Being less tolerant than I'd have wanted to be.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Apart from the occasional paper cut or cold - thankfully no.

11. What was the best thing you bought? My very first Escada clothes.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My husband's, because he always stays true to himself.

13. Whose behavior, what situations appalled and depressed you?
Latest: The German CSU party and their truly stupid and very shitty attitude towards the opening of the EU towards Romania and Bulgaria. Honestly, people, you've got to be kidding... I mean, how pathetic can you get???? I honestly have zero tolerance for your whatever it is you're doing. None whatsoever!

14. Where did most of your money go? Rent.

15. What events did you get really, really, really excited about? Sherlock Season 3. And my mum selling her house and moving to a new flat.

16. What song will always remind you of 2013? Probably Lykke Li "I Follow Rivers" and Barclay James Harvest "John Lennon's Guitar" (although the last one is ages and ages old....)

17. Compared to this time last year, you are…
richer or poorer?
poorer
fatter or thinner? about the same
happier or less happy? ditto

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
try new recipes

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? nothing

20. How did you spend Christmas? with my family <3

21. Did you fall in love in 2013?
No, not really. Celeb crushes excluded. :D

22. What was your favorite TV program? Sherlock.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Oh yes, with a vengeance!!!

24. What was the best book you read? Marisha Pessl "Night Film"

25. What was your greatest musical discovery or rediscovery?
I didn't discover anything new this year.

26. What did you want and get? Someone to become a friend.

27. What did you want and not get? A new job by the end of the year.

28. What were your favorite films of this year? Since I only watched Star Trek Into Darkness and Thor The Dark World (at least as far as I can remember), I'd have to go with Thor 2, please.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Celebrated my 40th in Amsterdam. Great times were had.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Those shitheads at my old company to fail spectacularly.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013? The usual: business chic, casual, occasionally dressed up to the occasion. :D

32. What kept you sane?
Sheer dumb luck? Since I don't know what turns a person "insane" (or whatever that means, for that matter...), I don't have a clue.

33. What political issue stirred you the most? See #13

34. Whom did you miss? M., very much so.

35. Who was the best new person you met?
I think my now ex-colleagues N. and S.

36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013. Never trust someone who has a "C" in their job title when they're younger than 30 / never work with toddlers ever again.

Meme!!

I stole this from [livejournal.com profile] ames1010:

1. You have 50 dollars in your pocket, what do you do with it?
Probably spend it on yummy food and wine. I love to cook (and eat) and a good bottle of wine goes with it! :D

2. What's the worst movie you've ever seen?
Death Becomes Her. Worst movie EVAH!!!!

3. Have you ever seen someone die?
No, but I've seen someone dead.

4. Describe a favorite memory.
I don't know when it was, but I was rather small, maybe 6 years old or so, and I was in bed with the flu / a cold / something like that. My mother and my little sister (she couldn't have been older than 3) came into my bedroom and gave me a little present they'd made for me: It was a collage of a "man" they'd put together from dried autumn leaves (pasted onto a sheet of paper). I remember we hung that collage over my bed, but I have no idea what happened to it later. It's one of the best gifts I ever got (if not the best) and one of my fondest memories. :-)))

5. If you could choose one place on earth to live, where would that be?
Easy: Manhattan!

6. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?
Rhythmn Is A Dancer. Don't ask why.

7. Did you have braces?
Loose ones, for a brief period of time. Didn't wear them much, though.

8. What is the last book you bought?
Night Film by Marisha Pessl

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently?
Yep. See my last post.

10. What do you want most in life?
My loved ones (friends and family) to be safe and sound.

11. Are you in love?
Yes

12. Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?
Fiction. And popular non-fiction science (like Simon Singh: The Code Book, Fermat's Last Theorem and Big Bang or Douglas Hofstadter: Gödel, Escher, Bach)

13. What does your Livejournal name mean?
It's the title of a Leonard Cohen song.

14. What kind of person do you think you are?
I think I'm a pretty avarage person. I do have a good mind and I like to think I'm fair towards other people.

15. Do you believe there is nothing higher than human kind?
I don't believe in a "higher power" or something like that. But I wouldn't want to apply a hierarchy to what I (claim to) know exists. At least not one that says "higher" = "better" = "worth more". Human beings are pretty far evolved (if you can apply something like "far" here), but so are fire ants, woodpeckers and viruses.

16. Which fictional character could you most see yourself marrying?
About eleven years ago someone asked me if that guy on my desktop was my husband. It was Annie Leibovitz' portrait of Alan Rickman as Snape. *g* I wouldn't want to marry him (Snape, that is), though.
I seriously have no idea!

17. Name someone with the same birthday as you.
Elisabeth I.

18. Name an obvious quality you have.
I have a very good memory. I know tons of useless trivia.

19. Do you have an all time favorite song?
Two: Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel and Find The River by R.E.M.

20. What type of friends do you like?
People I can talk to and laugh with. And cry with - for joy or sorrow. People I know I can call or ring their doorbell at 3am - and people who I'm certain would do the same with me.

[livejournal.com profile] melacita (I'm referring to Mel, of course... I seem to have forgotten how to do that 'lj user' tag...[ETA: Haha, NOW it's working!! It's like riding a BIKE!!!]) started it, so here we go...

Work

Work has been crazy during the last two years. Hubby and I moved to Berlin 2 years ago because of my work. Things have been declining work-wise for a year or two before that. Too long a story to tell, but the move to Berlin was a good thing nevertheless. We found a great flat here and we both love Berlin tons.
One of the reasons we moved here was that I didn't want to travel back and forth between two cities all the time (Munich and Berlin back then). So I'm sure all of you guys will appreciate the irony when I tell you that less than a year after we moved here I got a job offer to work at an internet start up in Hamburg.
I took that offer - wanting to venture into the "new world" of online business, wanted to learn things I didn't know and wanted to work with cool young people (and be paid extraordinarly well).

Well, I took that offer, rented a sencond flat in Hamburg and was back to the good old back and forth travelling in a blink.

We've been doing that for a year now and just recently I was let go because of some very, very ridiculous things going on at my new company I just couln't agree with - neither personally nor economically (re the prospects of my company). So I got the sack.
Thank Merlin, the sack came with two month full pay after I left (i.e. September and October) plus a "Abfindung" (= another month's pay on top).
Good think = two to three months on full pay without work. Bad thing: Having to apply for unemployment pay plus having to find a new job by New Year (better earlier than that).

Well, we'll see...

Life

Live is good - apart from all the things mentioned above. Things are going great with hubby, though the unemployment thing scares me shitless. I'm just not the kind of gal for that. But I'm confident things will work out. They simply have to.

Fandom

No such thing these days. Love Sherlock, but don't write. I'm devoid of creativity these days. Maybe it'll come back, dunno. We'll see.

Life II

I have tons of projects I'd like to pursue during the next couple of months. No idea if any of them will see the light of day. After all, I'm still in shock, not to mention scared shitless. I know I have a good CV, but I've never been in that kind of situation before. I'm not prepared for this. Well, I'll find a way and won't be too scared. *bites nails*

Everything else

There isn't much else, I'm afraid. A bit preoccupied, me. But we'll see, won't we?

Livejournal

I've been reading all your posts during the last couple of years. I don't know why I almost never commentend. I'm sorry. That's all I can say. Thank you guys for still being there and having me around. I sure do miss you!!

*hugs flist*
take_this_waltz: (Curtain)
Haha, because I miss you guys and I seriously love the idea. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] tiniowien, for inspiring this post!!

So ten facts (in no particular order) that you may or may not know about me:

1. I met four of you guys in RL: [livejournal.com profile] charly2004 (we lived almost next to each other for a couple of years - didn't see each other as much as I'd have liked, though...), [livejournal.com profile] legorlando (who IS a fierce runner and whom I'd love to see again soon!), [livejournal.com profile] dollface_uk and [livejournal.com profile] tiniowien - the latter two at the London premiere of PotC II. Still a fab memory and one of the coolest things I've ever done! I've exchanged postcards with several of people on my flist and I still hope to meet more of you, chiefly [livejournal.com profile] celebrianne, [livejournal.com profile] mellacita and [livejournal.com profile] salixbabylon. Salix' "April Fools" lj comm was one of the neatest and nicest ideas I've ever seen come to pass, btw. And I still pitty that we didn't make more of it. It was a truly great thing, Salix, and I'm sorry we didn't put more effort into keeping it alive. I really owe you for that one, it was a great pleasure!!

2. My husband got himself a brand new king today. Yay! Leve de Koning!!

3. We still own an old, non-flat screen tv. It's almost 17 years old, I think, and two moves weren't able to break it. *sadface* But I can't bring myself to simply throw away a working tv.

4. I once read that if you had to throw away a piece of bread (and I hate throwing things away that have gone bad... It just seems such a waste. Terrible, terrible waste...) it isn't such a waste (or such a thoughtless thing to do) if you kissed said piece of bread before you throw it away. I've kissed every single piece or leftover piece of a loaf of bread I've thrown away since.

5. I'm not supersticious, but there are three things things I'd never do: light a cigarette with a candle (because a sailor dies if you do that - and my dad was a naval captain), walk underneath a ladder and cross glasses while doing the cheers thing. You just never know... ;-)

6. Whenever someone says: "Pick a number between 1 and 100 but don't say it out loud!", I always pick 42.

7. I love prime numbers. I know the prime numbers under 100 by heart. And the most beautiful "explanation" or "description" of what prime numbers are comes from Mark Haddon's "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" - and it goes like this: "Prime numbers are what is left when you take all the patterns away."

8. I'm a quote monster. In case you didn't notice. *g*

9. The first pairing I ever wrote was Snape/Bill.

10. Even though I studied Latin at uni, I've never been to Rome. I think that's a disgrace.
take_this_waltz: (Default)
Spent a lovely evening with [livejournal.com profile] legorlando yesterday eating tapas and chatting! I love to hear stories about how other people got into fandom, and hers was a great one. *g*
Then we went on a shopping spree at the KaDeWe this afternoon, which was tons of fun. :-)

So, here are my fingers firmly crossed for no wind tomorrow, because alledgedly wind sucks when you run a half marathon - which is precisely what [livejournal.com profile] legorlando plans to do tomorrow. I'll try and stand at a street corner somewhere and cheer when she runs past.

Thanks for a great time, [livejournal.com profile] legorlando, and let's meet again some day, 'kay? And, as I've already said: Keep the tinhat on!!!

And thank you to you, [livejournal.com profile] charly2004, for the lovely heart!! It made me smile very, very broadly!! *hugs*

Hey, you guys, I need your HELP, please?!

I've started watching "True Blood" recently (and am well into season 3 - it's like (sometimes bad) fanfic came alive and I LOVE IT!!!) and I was wondering if there are any good Eric/Bill stories or even archives/communities.

I didn's find anything (well, almost anything/close to nothing, to my very big surprise) during my own web searches and I'd really love me some...

Do you know any good Eric/Bill fics or even a comm for that pairing?

Thank you so much in advance!!

*hugs flist*

Dear Viggorleans (and former Viggorleans, won't be picky... *g*),

please hurry over to [livejournal.com profile] ancabell's journal and read her latest entry (the one with the quote from an interview with Orli).

And then go and write some fic.

Okay???

I somehow miss those times. But it's nice to remember them, too. :-)
