And, oh my!, how right she is!
Not only about Orlando and his (supposed) thoughts in said pic, but about nostalgia in general.
There's not much that I perceive as more painful than knowing that something perfect, something that was so heart-shatteringly wonderful is gone forever. Is irrevocably lost. Will never come back.
There still is one thing more painful, though. The fading vision of memory. The constant blurring of pictures, scents, scenes, sounds. The ever-progressing loss of focus of something that drags the heart with it. The awareness of the growth of forgetting and of loss gnawing on your treasures. The patina coming and going.
The stinging knowledge of "never again".
Yeah, well.
